Helen was born in Zwolle in a family of 5 children and raised in several places in Friesland. In the fifties six aunts and uncles moved to Canada and Helen visited her family in Canada more than once in the years to come. She has the same sense of adventure as her family and after almost a year of preparation she moved, with her Daughter Hannah, then 9 years of age, to Calgary in august 2012. Her mom, two brothers and two sisters still live in the Netherlands but with the current technology she finds it easy to stay in contact. Although the move was not always easy and she faced some challenges she never regretted the step to immigrate. She works as an Operational Manager and lives in the North West of the city.
